Microphone checks that respect shy speakers at conferences
Soo-jin Lee · 2026-01-20
Conference audio is operational work. Our Event Announcements team trains volunteers with a literal checklist: greet, confirm pronunciation, offer optional warm-up text, never joke about nerves.
We keep line checks off the main stage when possible, using a side room with the same microphone model. Levels are written on a card handed to the speaker so they know what to expect on stage.
Shy speakers asked for this after 2025 forums. Satisfaction on speaker experience moved from good-enough to consistently strong in internal surveys—not a miracle, just process respect.
If you host community events, steal the card idea. It costs almost nothing.
